The most powerful way to do this in the long term is to perform Good SEO on your website.
So your site is indexed and showing up in the SERPS (Search Engine Results Pages) – that’s great!
But are the Search Engines Showing people what YOU WANT THEM TO SEE?
What do I mean by this?
Here is my example when searching “PiersSEO” on Google:
This is what Google will show (minus the formatting):

This is achieved by using the meta descriptions tag.... If you haven’t got a meta descriptions tag then google will display whatever they want to visitors!!
Here is my meta descriptions tag:
